Auditions for 2016/2017 Season

We're holding auditions at GMPA on Sunday, June 5.

Do you have what it takes?
  • Celtic Company members typically take 2-4 technique classes a week so troupe rehearsals can be devoted to performance material.
  • They are eager to take the stage at every opportunity and show their audiences how much they love to dance.
  • The majority of the members compete in Irish and/or Highland at least two times a year.
  • Members aren't afraid to try new styles of dance and stretch comfort zones.
  • They are organized, prepared and self motivated.
  • There is no upper or lower age limit. We're looking for experience, passion and parental support, if you're a minor.

The audition:
  • Sunday, June 5 from 5:00-6:30
  • Master class in front of a friendly panel of judges.
  • Be prepared to show a couple of steps of your favorite or best dance.
  • Wear your regular class attire and make sure you have all of your dance shoes (gillies, hard shoes and/or jig shoes if applicable).
  • Plan to stay for the duration of the rehearsal and plan to have fun!

The commitment:
  • Weekly hour and a half rehearsals. Currently they are held on Sunday evenings in Waterbury. Next season's schedule may shift depending on participant needs.
  • Weekly technique class(es) outside of Celtic Company rehearsals.
  • Minimum of 4 performances a year. Some are close to home, some further afield. Your own transportation and/or carpooling is necessary.
  • Enter competitions or some other option like grade exams that will challenge you to raise your standard of dance.
  • Purchase a Celtic Company costume. These are in development. Details to come.
  • Be a leader in your weekly classes and in this group. Positive energy and support of the task at hand are a continuous requirement.
