Getting Set Up
- ZOOM can be used on a computer/laptop, phone or iPad/tablet. Each has different features and capabilities, with the laptop/computer option having the most features. If you are fancy, you can connect your device to a TV to experience ZOOM on the big screen.
-LINK/MEETING ID/PASSWORD: You do not need to have a ZOOM account to use ZOOM. You can just click the link/type in the link in a browser, and it will allow you to join the meeting. The link should get you where you need to go but if entering through an app, it will ask you for the meeting ID- which is the last 9 digits of the link. It will also ask you for a password.
-SPACE: Make sure you are in a clear area with a floor that facilitates movement. If you are interested in your teacher being able to give corrections/adjust instructions to how you are doing, make sure your body is well lit and is able to be seen on the screen from head to toe.
-ONCE YOU LOG ON/WAITING ROOM- you will be put "in a waiting room" which just means you will see a blank screen until your teacher clicks on your name to let you in. Please try to be on time so the teacher doesn't have to stop instruction to let you in.

Tips
-LOG ON A FEW MIN BEFORE CLASS: If you haven’t used it before, log on a few minutes early to make sure you are good to go.
-SOUND: Class participants should be muted once class begins unless your instructor prompts you otherwise. You can mute yourself in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
-VIDEO: You can choose whether or not you want yourself to be able to be seen. You can click the video mute screen on the bottom left hand corner of the screen to turn your own video off or on.
-YOUR NAME: Make sure that your name is represented in a way that will help us know who is “in the room”. It needs to be understandable to your instructor, art you will be stuck in the waiting room. If you are logging in and don't have an account, you will be prompted to type in your name. Once in, you can edit your name by clicking the top right hand corner of your own video rectangle, click the “...” and click “rename.”
-VIEW OPTIONS: There are 2 view options in Zoom. “Speaker View” which will show whoever is speaking on the largest screen (in this case, your teacher) or “Gallery View” which allows you to see all participants evenly across your screen. During class, you will want to have your screen set to "Speaker View" so you can see your teacher.

Safety
-Our Zoom links have only been shared with current GMPA students and can only be accessed through the password protected website or personal email. Each class will have a password in order to access the class. Once the class is accessed, participants will be put in a waiting room. Instructors will be letting in students one at a time based on name recognition. They will not be admitting anyone they do not recognize. If you get logged in as "iPad" or "iPhone", you will get stuck in the waiting room. Please see tips directions above for info about your name. The rooms will be locked once instruction as started- allowing no additional participants- so don't be late!
-Teachers will not be recording or taking screenshots of their classes.
-Our meetings are set up with the securest recommendations for k-12 schools- including no private chats, no screen sharing, etc.
If you have further questions, just send us an email!
